The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania approved in its meeting on May 15, 2019 the creation of the Albanian Energy stock Exchange market for the first time in Albania.
The stock exchange, will operate and be organized on the basis of a day-ahead market and an intra-day market electronic platform. The establishment of the Albanian Energy stock exchange marks a new standard of operation and transparency of this sector and will be an incentive for the opening and deregulation of the electricity market, which in itself will encourage the installation of new power sources in the country, increase security of electricity supply, regional and wider integration of this market, increased investment in the sector, increased security of Albanian electricity supply, more financial transparency, and new standards of legal and commercial responsibility.
The Market Operator (Albanian Stock Exchange) will operate in the field of electricity exchange in Albania in the form of a joint stock company, financially and legally divided by the company “Transmission System Operator” Sh.a.
